My Mission Statement

I believe a classroom needs a designated space for the group to gather as a whole and students to work independently from each other, a space to read comfortably and search for literature, a space to store personal items and classroom supplies, and a space to share student work and teacher driven media.

I believe children deserve the opportunity to express themselves, be heard, and actively listened to.

In my classroom I value honesty, respect (of environment, items, and each other), self-expression, family and community involvement in and out of classroom, and the joy of sharing and gaining knowledge.

Although I find it difficult to narrow my desires and dreams into a statement, I value the importance of knowing what you want and how to accomplish it in a classroom setting. I wanted to be specific and yet incorporate my vision in a precise way that could be a mission statement for me, as an educator.

Thank you all for sharing your dreams and desires with us! I can’t wait to see what each of these mission statements look like on the walls of our classrooms, and through the eyes of our students!
