Thanks to my cohort 1 homies!

First off I just want to say wow! I am blown away by how wonderful the poetry was yesterday. It was fantastic hearing from everybody (I apologize for not sharing my own, if I had, I would have broken down even more!). What really struck me is how open we are with each other. Think about it... 3 1/2 weeks ago we had never talked to others in this class, let alone knew some of us existed. It is truly amazing to see how quickly we have become such a close community. I feel privileged that I will be able to get to know more and more about each of you. And as Rian stated early, cohort 1 rocks!

After class yesterday, I came away with a feeling of calm. Before, trying to figure out how I was supposed to learn about my future community of students as well as their family was terrifying. I was wracking my brain, trying to figure out how to even begin. If I am different from one student who is different from someone elses parent, who all come from different backgrounds and cultures, how can I even begin to create a community surrounding my class? But with something as easy as "I am from...", 22 people from different background, different values, different ideas, came together and created something fantastic.

So I want to thank you all once again. I know that this year will be a long and difficult journey, and sometimes I will feel like I just can't handle it anymore, but knowing that there is the support and understanding from a wonderful group of people (if I really wanted to get corny I would say a second family, cause lets face it, I see all of you guys more than I see my husband), will make this so much easier to bear and definitely more enjoyable. So cheers all, I will see you in the AM.
